This is a view of the rear spring shackle. On an A-body car, there is a hanger for the rear spring shackle. When you relocate theleaf springs, the hanger is eliminated and the shackle straddles the frame rail. The factory frame rail has a drain hole in this location so we make 1/8" plates that are welded over the frame rail to strength this critical area.

The Dart is one a lift and the rear is hanging with no support - that is why the srear shackle is at a weird angle. When this Dart is siutting with its weight on the springs, the angle is perfect, almost straight down and just about 2 degrees rearward. You never want the rear shackles to have a negative (facing forward) angle, always a positive (rearward) angle when sitting still.
