The panel has been stitch welded in place and the welds ground down part way. This allows us to get a good look at the weld coverage of the two panels.
To minimize warping the replacement panels, stitch welds are made starting at 12" intervals and cooling each weld with a wet rag. We continue with these welds, splitting the distance between the last welds until finally the entire seam is welded. Takes a while to do, but no other way to keep the panel from warping.
