This is what the braces underneath the dutchman panel look like. They are rusted right through and will need to have new ones fabricated. OK, it is not terrible news, but it pretty much convinced me that we are going to replace the Dutchman panel instead of just patching it. We already have a replacement (reproduction) so only the inner braces need to be made from scratch.
