The frame rail front sections are in, welded and ground. Here is a view of the driver side frame rail. This frame rail was carefully clamped in position, the rear floor kickup pan was located on top of it, all the measurements taken prior to old frame rail removal double checked, then it was welded into position.

The frame rail section was butt welded to the original portion, then the interior received a sleeve (made from a discarded section of the new rail) and then finally the inside is coated in an undercoat type material and topcoated with chasis black. This is MUCH better protection than the factory, which dipped the car into primer and whatever ran into the rail is what it got. We all know that primer is not a good rust preventative, and the factory rails are always rusty inside!

After that, a light coat of etching primer was misted over these frame rails. We use care with the etching primer since it will lift any other product it is placed over, so in some cases it cannot be sprayed on too thick. In this case, we also masked the rail interior so as to not lift the chasis paint inside.

A detail often overlooked is the emergency cable bracket. The correct bracket has been removed from the damaged original and relocated to this frame rail !
